#1 - Baking Soda This is probably one of the simplest ways to keep your shoes from smelling. Sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda... and a little vinegar... into the bottom of your shoe, then let the baking soda sit overnight. When you take your shoes out of the closet in the morning, they should smell fresh and... well... not smelly! 

#2 - Baking Soda and Vinegar/Lemon Juice This method works a lot like the first one, but with a bit more of a punch. Mix one part baking soda with three parts water... then mix in a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar. Let the mixture sit overnight and in the morning, shake it into your shoes and lightly scrub it with a soft-bristle brush to remove any excess baking soda. 

#3 - Dryer Sheets These thin sheets of fabric can be rolled up and popped into your shoes to deodorize them. Apply a dryer sheet to your shoes and rub them a few times until they're completely saturated. The sheets will absorb odors and can help mask the smell of your feet as well! 

#4 - Vinegar and Club Soda If you opt for club soda over water, you don't have to worry about diluting the acid in plain white vinegar, and you can get similar results. Simply pour a cup or two of white vinegar into a plastic baggie, and clip it onto a hanger in your closet or a small hook near your shoes. Fill the bag with club soda every now and then to freshen it, and whenever your shoes start to smell funky, you can just pick up the bag and shake it all around until your shoes are scented once again. 

#5 - Rubbing Alcohol and Lemon or Lime Another simple home remedy is rubbing alcohol and citrus juice. Mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and lemon juice or lime juice... and this will leave your leather shoes smelling fresh! Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil... like lavender oil... to the alcohol and lemon juice mix if you want... and this will help keep your shoes from smelling awful in your closet as well! 

#6 - Baking Soda, Vinegar, and Lemon Juice/Orange Oil The final trick requires mixing some baking soda and white vinegar with some lemon juice and essential oil and dried flowers or sugar. After you wash your shoes, sprinkle the baking soda and vinegar mix into the shoes and let them sit overnight. In the morning, you can brush off the baking soda and scrub your shoes with the soft-bristle brush and lemon juice/sugar mix. When you put the shoes on again, they should smell fresh!
